I have to put one of my dogs down today. She can't eat anything due to the enormous tumor in her stomach, and she's dwindled to the point where her quality of life is horrible. I think I'm taking this so hard because she's only eight years old. I thought we'd have at least a few more years with her. But she's the sweetest tempered, nicest, most well behaved dog I've ever had, so naturally she has to die young.

I have to say, this really blows.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's terrible that she's so young, but I'm glad she had a great family who loved her and she loved back for those eight years.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry. ): Cancer is practically the worst way ever to lose an animal.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Pris. :( I hope you'll get a new one soon, I'm told that helps with the sadness.

I remember thinking the same when we had to put Casey down last year. She had Lymphoma, and she was clearly not doing well, but she was so young (she was only seven), and she was the sweetest, smartest thing.

So sorry, Pris. *Hug*

Really sorry about that
Never had to put down a dog or other animal myself but I've seen several pets of mine die - mostly rats. All were pretty bad, though the worst was probably my cat, which actually got killed in a fight while I was in the hospital about ten years ago.

Not exactly a way to make me feel better.

Fully sympathy goes out to you. At least you know that she'll no longer be in pain.

That sucks, Pris. Thinking of you and yours in this difficult time. We've lost more than half our animal population in the last few years due to illness and old age and it is never easy, even when it's the best option.

You know, the rainbow bridge is such a completely cheesy thing... except, it's kind of totally comforting to think about. Hope you guys are doing as well as can be expected.

I was a mess when I had to put my dog to sleep, he was 14 and had kidney failure. Even though I knew it was for the best it was still hard to do.

She won't be in pain anymore Pris. I hope you and your family are ok.

How horribly, horribly sad. Beautiful, sweet doggies always seem to die so soon.

Here's to the Rainbow Bridge, where she can play and frolic, and romp and eat steak. May Artemis take good care of her until you and yours can claim her many years later.

I'm very sorry. It's always hard to lose a family member, dogs are no different. She's in doggy heaven now where tumors feel great AND buy you drinks.

I hope your memories are fond and bring you comfort during this time.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. That's an awful choice to have to make, but it sounds like you're making the right one. I wish you and your family the best.
